Misaligned teeth and a poor bite can cause severe migraines, bruxism, and painful facial spasms. Braces can effectively correct your bite, alleviating these symptoms, but do you want to spend two years in metal braces? Dr. Marc Whitmore has the solutionthe revolutionary, clear Invisalign invisible braces.
You can wear a succession of Invisalign aligners, created with sophisticated 3D computer imaging technology and made with clear acrylic, to straighten misaligned teeth and make your smile more attractive. Every two weeks, you'll move to the next aligner in your series. Visit Dr. Whitmore about every four to six weeks to see how youre progressing and to change aligners. No wires, no bands, no adjustment appointments.
Because Invisalign is removable, patients can take out their aligners out to enjoy favorite foods or for brushing and flossing teeth. Special occasion? Family photo? Big presentation at work? Slip off your aligners temporarily. Or leave them on because people really can't tell that you're wearing them. Invisalign is the clear choice for image-conscious or professional adults who want a straighter smile.
If you want straight teeth, you don't need to put up with metal brackets and wires on your teeth. Now, you can have your teeth straightened with Invisalign invisible braces, as this picture shows.

Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable aligners, like the one pictured to the right, created with sophisticated computer technology. There are no sharp edges to cut your tongue and your cheeks. Since teeth movements are computer-controlled, they are much more efficient, straightening your teeth in about half the time. And the best part of all is that they really areinvisible. The plastic aligners are thin and clear, and from a conversational distance, people won't be able to tell you have them on. The Invisalign Procedure If you are a candidate for Invisalign, Dr. Whitmore will start by taking x-rays and doing a thorough examination. Together with the Invisalign orthodontists, he will analyze the alignment of your teeth and develop a plan for moving them so that they end up straight. Then, using a set of carefully made impressions of your teeth, a computer will plan out the precise tooth movements and will manufacture a series of these clear aligners.
When you put the first set of aligners in (there will be two each time - one for the upper teeth and one for the lower), you will notice that they don't seem to fit quite right. That is because they are designed so that they will push the teeth into a new position. Wearing them for two weeks will cause your teeth to move so that the aligners now fit perfectly. Then you are ready for the second set which will move your teeth a little more. This continues on for the entire course of treatment.
- People will not be able to tell you're wearing braces. From a conversational distance, they are truly invisible.
- People who have worn braces will tell you that they are very uncomfortable. The wires and brackets dig into your cheeks, lips, and tongue so that they are constantly sore. There is none of that with Invisalign.
- Invisalign moves your teeth in about half the time sometimes less. Most cases are completed in six to twelve months.
- Oral hygiene is truly a pain when you're wearing regular braces. It's impossible to floss normally, and the brackets are constantly catching food. With these invisible aligners, however, you simply take them out when you eat. You can brush and floss normally, and then just put them back in.
Invisalign isn't appropriate for every case. Come see us, and Dr. Whitmore will tell you if you're a candidate or not.
