Toothaches are usually caused by tooth decay. Tooth decay is a bacterial attack on your tooth. When a cavity becomes large, these bacteria can enter the pulp of the tooth, causing an infection.
There are other causes, too. A cracked or a broken tooth can also cause a toothache. A gum infection can also be a cause. Impacted wisdom teeth can easily become abscessed and cause serious pain and swelling.
Whatever the problem, there is usually a simple procedure called a palliative procedure that can get you out of pain quickly.
