My dentist told me I need a five unit bridge. I had asked for a removable partial denture, but he said that would place too much stress on my existing teeth because they are already loose and I have gum disease. He said it would be about $5500 not including pulling the teeth. Is this a good price or do i need to look somewhere else?

Though the price is reasonable for your geographic area, I am going to recommend you get a second opinion. Typically a removable partial denture is known to place less stress on your remaining teeth than a several unit bridge. If you ended up with a problem on one of your supporting teeth, you’d have to start completely over with a new bridge unit. It would not hurt to see what another dentist thinks of your situation. I also hope your current dentist is treating your gum disease. That is very important if you don’t want to loose even more teeth, though the ones that are already loose may be too far gone to save. Additionally, there are other options for missing teeth that your dentist may not have mentioned. It wouldn’t hurt to have all the information, before you made a final decision.
